Firstly, I want to say this is sad because I believe this place is currently closed for good as of August 2025. We moved to Stafford not long ago and have visited this restaurant 6 or 7 times for takeout. Pricing was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food received. Their bbq is standout. Beef ribs are delicious. Pork ribs are delicious and tender. The brisket was flavorful, but not as tender as I'd like, but worth trying. The Mac n cheese was delicious as so were the green beans. They had a variety of desserts which changed weekly and were well worth a try. Very sad to see a small family ran business close that consistently delivered great bbq in this area. Hopefully they make a return.

I love this place! If you guys haven’t been here please go! It’s so worth it! The food is AMAZING! I’d go here over any chain any day! This is the brisket Mac & cheese & it was phenomenal! Friendly people & amazing food! Will always be a returning customer!

Some of the best BBQ I have ever had. We stopped due to taking a detour because of heavy traffic traveling to Richmond, VA and I’m sure glad we did. I got the howling sampler, so I could try a bit of everything and it was all delicious. My father-in-law has eaten BBQ all over the country and agreed that this was one of the best he has had. Staff was very hospitable and gave us samples of brisket, pulled pork, strawberry shortcake pudding, and even a lemonade BBQ sauce, which was awesome. I’d gladly take a detour again for seconds!

It was incredible. I got the smoked ribs with mac and cheese and baked beans. The meat was so tender and packed with flavor. The mac and cheese and beans complemented it perfectly. I am usually a yapper, but after my first bite, I was speechless—that’s how you know the food is amazing. My only regret is not getting the banana pudding; it looked so good. Don’t worry, I’ll be back to try it. Overall, a 10/10 experience—they really ate and left zero crumbs. I literally ate and left zero crumbs. Love yall so much!

I stopped in for lunch on a weekday… As soon as I walked in I could smell the smoke and was happy! The lady working the front counter was very friendly and helpful and answered my many questions nicely, as I wasn’t sure what I wanted and what they were really known for. I opted for a brisket plate with baked beans and potato salad. The food took about 5 mins or so to be prepared, which was perfectly fine. Opening the clamshell container, I was happy with the bark and smoke ring on the brisket, but it did look a little dry and when I tasted it, it definitely needed the BBQ sauce that came with it. Regarding the sauce, it was their spicy sauce and it had a slight kick to it, but was more sweet than spicy. The flavor of the brisket was decent, not as smokey as I would have hoped. Regarding the sides – The baked beans had what looked like pork belly in in, but I didn’t taste any smoke from the meat in the beans. The beans were also the small, lighter colored beans. The overall flavor was decent. Regarding the potato salad, I typically don’t like pickle in my potato salad (or ANY salad), but I really liked the overall flavor of this potato salad, as well as the consistency! Overall, it was decent, I would definitely return, just try something different next time to see how they do other types of meats and sides.

This was the best BBQ I've ever had in my 33 years of life! I got the brisket sandwich with Cole slaw and Mac and cheese as my sides. They lay that brisket on thick to a huge delicious bun and it falls apart in your mouth. You can't even pick it up with a fork, it's so tender! They have a variety of sauces that are all perfect for the food. I'd buy it if that bottled it! Next time we're in the area, we'll definitely stop back in. For those wondering, it's a small restaurant, but there are nice sit down tables too. Thank you guys for the awesome meal! Happy holidays

Went for the first time last night, 12/28/22, and it will NOT be the last time. Greeted when we walked in and the customer service was great. You do have to wait a little long for the food but you can tell it is run by a family, so didnt bug us at all. Plus the food was so WORTH it. Significant Other got the howler sampler with fries and potato salad. I got the pull pork plate with yams and wolf beans. Plus a 1/4 pound of beef brisket. Everything was soooo good. Especially the beef brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. We were both shocked out how well it was prepared and tasted. We just kept oooohing and ahhhing. Best either of us have ever had. And the sides! Omg. Boyfriend is obsessed with the potato salad and I am with the yams. Can't wait to go back to grab our faves and try more stuff. Killer BBQ.

First off, this is not a fine dining establishment and anyone expecting that sort of experience will be sorely disappointed. What you do get is friendly service (as fast as they can provide it), a fun atmosphere, and excellent barbecue. My wife and I came on a Friday night and they were assembling a large catering order on three of the 6 or so tables inside. We were the only dine in guests but there was a steady stream of to-go orders being served up the entire time we were there. We got the sampler and a pound of sliced brisket and it was all great. The habanero sauce isn't particularly spicy but has great flavor and enough zing to keep things interesting. Overall nice people, fun little dining area, and food that was definitely worth the wait.

Big Bad W Pit BBQ, nestled in Stafford, VA, stands out as a genuine gem in the barbecue scene. This family-run spot serves up smoky, tender meats that keep customers coming back. Their beef ribs boast a rich, deep flavor, complemented by pork ribs that are fall-off-the-bone tender. The brisket, while slightly less tender than some might prefer, carries a bold, smoky character that truly reflects traditional pitmaster craftsmanship.

The sides here deserve equal praise. Creamy mac and cheese acts as the perfect counterpoint to the savory meats, while the green beans and baked beans add a comforting, home-cooked touch. The baked beans, although milder in smoke, carry a subtle pork belly richness that balances the plate well.
